I'm Amber and I'm the owner and creator of Neon Marl.
Having studied for a BA (hons) in Textile Design at University, I then became a fabric buyer and worked for Karen Millen , Whistles and French Connection - these roles gave me an eye and understanding for a quality product and an insight into the retail fashion world.
Upon becoming a mum in 2004, I decided to stay at home for a few years to raise my 2 boys and relocated out of London to Bedfordshire.
I was itching to get back into work but decided commuting to London back to my old work life was not an option and decided to retrain as a secondary school Textiles teacher - I worked in a brilliant rural school and enjoyed inspiring and guiding future fashion designers into an exciting career that I had first hand knowledge of.
During this time, much of it spent encouraging students to work hard and follow their dreams, it occurred to me that I had always dreamt of running my own business and should listen to my own advice!
In July 2016 I left my teaching post and in November 2016, Neon Marl was born - bringing together all the skills and experiences I have encountered through my life and a love of all things neon, metallic and simple & (mostly) geometric form.
All designs are created by me in my home studio space and are cut and hand printed by me too! Sometimes, it can be exhausting!
